An 18-year-old woman, charged with the fatal stabbing of a schoolgirl during a romantic conflict, has appeared in a photograph. The incident occurred in Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe, Leeds, at around 6:00 AM on Saturday, leaving the community in shock.
Chloe Watson Dransfield, a 16-year-old girl, was found with critical injuries in the area. Family members and neighbors confirmed the attack happened when she was stabbed from behind, sparking an emotional outpouring of grief. The details of the confrontation remain under investigation.
“Chloe was my beautiful princess. I can’t find the right words to express the pain of losing her. She was my life, my world, and I know she was mine. Without her, I feel like I’m missing a piece of myself. Her vibrant spirit brought light to every room she entered. There’s a hole in my heart that will never heal.”
“Her two sisters and older brother will always cherish her memory. She will forever live in our hearts. Love, Mum, Connor, Courtney, and Cienna.”
Kayla Smith, 18, and Archie Rycroft, 19, both from Leeds, are facing murder charges, as announced by West Yorkshire Police. Smith, a self-employed beautician, runs her business, Luxe Aesthetics, from her grandfather’s home in east Leeds, according to the Daily Mail.
Two additional suspects—an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl—were arrested but released on bail until further inquiries conclude. The emotional toll on the family is evident in their heartfelt tributes.
Wayne Mallows, a 64-year-old neighbor, recounted his efforts to save Chloe. He performed CPR on the pavement near his residence after being alerted by a dogwalker around 5:50 AM. “She said my neighbor was outside giving CPR to a young girl. He was exhausted,” Mallows explained. When he noticed a phone on the ground and realized it was on loudspeaker, he took over until emergency services arrived 10 minutes later. “She had been stabbed in the back, and there was a lot of blood. Her eyes were empty,” he described.
Det. Chief Insp. James Entwistle, leading the inquiry, stated: “We are with Chloe’s family during this heart-wrenching period. Our trained officers are supporting them. The investigation continues, with five individuals detained on suspicion of murder as we uncover the full story.”
