Eamonn Holmes ‘doing OK’ after stroke, his son says
Eamonn Holmes’s son, Declan, shared updates about his father’s condition following a recent stroke. “We’re proceeding cautiously,” Declan stated, emphasizing the family’s focus on maintaining stability during the 66-year-old GB News presenter’s recovery. The news channel confirmed his hospitalization after the stroke, which occurred last week, noting he was “responding positively to treatment” in their official communication.
“We’d greatly appreciate some privacy as we manage this situation and plan for the future,” Declan added, expressing gratitude for the public’s support. “Your kindness means a lot to dad and our entire family.” The message was posted on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of Declan supporting his father.
GB News CEO Angelos Frangopoulos praised Holmes as a “cherished part of the team” and assured the public they were “by his side at every stage of the recovery process.” Holmes, originally from Northern Ireland, has faced multiple health challenges over the years, including spinal surgery and hip replacements. He has also discussed his reliance on a mobility scooter and difficulties with walking.
A Career in Broadcasting
Before joining GB News in 2022, Holmes was a familiar face on ITV’s morning show, This Morning, where he frequently co-hosted with Ruth Langsford. Their marriage, which began in 2010, ended in 2024, with a spokesperson confirming “their union has concluded and they are finalizing the divorce.” Despite these personal changes, Holmes remains a respected figure in the field of news broadcasting.
A stroke is defined by the NHS as an event where blood flow to a brain area is interrupted. Common signs include facial drooping, arm weakness, and speech impairments. While details about Holmes’s specific case are limited, his family has reported progress in his condition.
