How Trump’s Jesus-like image and feud with the Pope are sparking backlash

Trump’s Christ-like Image and Clash with the Pope

Donald Trump has drawn increasing criticism following a post on Truth Social that portrayed him as a Christ-like figure. The AI-generated image, which was later removed, showed the president seemingly curing a patient in a hospital bed. This post followed a sharp critique of Pope Leo XIV, which Trump released just hours prior. The president later clarified that he believed the image depicted him as a medical professional.

“It is so great to hear from Earth again,” said astronaut Christina Koch after reestablishing communication.

The BBC’s Science Editor, Rebecca Morelle, recently conversed with the Artemis II crew ahead of their anticipated splashdown. Meanwhile, BBC’s Sarah Smith examined the president’s conflict with the pope and the reactions from his core supporters.

Artemis II Mission Sets New Lunar Distance Record

A four-member crew orbited the Moon during a nine-day expedition, surpassing all prior records for Earth’s distance. Their return to Earth marked the completion of a 10-day mission that broke the Apollo 13’s 1970 record of 248,655 miles (400,171km). Canada’s first astronaut to venture into deep space, Jeremy Hansen, was among the crew.

During their journey, the astronauts experienced the far side of the Moon, while Reid Wiseman’s wife, who passed away from cancer in 2020 at 46, was remembered by the crew. The mission focused on tests, including maneuvers of the Orion spacecraft, and preparations for future lunar landings.

As part of NASA’s plans to land humans on the Moon again by 2028, the crew conducted experiments and shared messages with families via video link. A commercial flight witnessed a rare view of the launch of NASA’s first crewed lunar mission in 50 years, with Morelle observing from just three miles away.

The launch, delayed by technical challenges, successfully placed the spacecraft into Earth’s orbit. This mission highlights the US’s ambition to return to the Moon, though no landing occurred this time. The Great Marshmallow Drop, where over 15,000 treats were dropped from a helicopter, added a lighthearted moment to the event.
