Brits in Dubai reveal ‘nerve-wracking’ emergency alerts ‘to seek immediate shelter’

On March 6, 2026, British expatriates and locals in Dubai received urgent phone alerts about potential missile threats.

At least two emergency alerts were issued, encouraging people to take cover and await further instructions.

Iran’s barrage targets Middle East

Iran has launched ‘its most intense barrage of missile strikes yet’ across the Middle East.

Dubai experienced multiple drone interceptions, with debris landing on the Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah hotels, igniting fires.

Martyn, a British expat, told Metro: ‘Two alerts were just issued, and we had another two last night.’

‘It’s an extremely tense situation. Assessing the danger from the ground is difficult, as if you’re in the eye of the storm. There’s no way to understand it.’

‘Staying in the city feels incredibly stressful. While some believe the missiles might pass, I think it’s safer to seek shelter since anything could happen.’

He added, ‘It honestly terrifies me, but it’s meant to. You can’t shut it down or disable it, making it highly effective.’

‘The disruption affecting people throughout the UAE is exactly what Iran intends.’

‘My friend in Abu Dhabi faced significant impacts; there were 15 intercepts recently.’

‘It feels like the Iranians are trying to take pot shots because it causes lots of disruption.’
