Bill Gates Set to Appear Before U.S. Congress in Epstein Inquiry

Committee Requests Testimony on June 10

On June 10, Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, will testify before the House Oversight Committee as part of the ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes. Lawmakers have confirmed that the billionaire philanthropist is the most recent prominent individual to agree to provide testimony. The hearing follows a March 3 letter from the committee requesting Gates’ participation.

Documents and Legislative Mandate

The Department of Justice released over three million documents earlier this year, including information about Gates’ communications with Epstein. These disclosures came after a November 2022 law signed by former President Donald Trump, which required the agency to make all investigative materials public. Despite the transparency, many documents remain unshared.

Public Apology and Acknowledgment

Gates addressed his ties to Epstein during a meeting with staff from his foundation, where he “took responsibility for his actions.” A statement from the Gates Foundation noted that he “spoke candidly, addressing several questions in detail.” The Wall Street Journal reported Gates apologized to staff, revealing he had two affairs with Russian women that Epstein later discovered. He claimed,

“I did nothing illicit. I saw nothing illicit.”

Clarifications and Denials

In an earlier interview with 9News in Australia, Gates described his interactions with Epstein as limited to dinners and stated he had not visited the financier’s island. He added,

“Every minute I spent with him I regret and I apologise that I did that.”

A spokesperson later clarified that Gates had never attended Epstein’s parties and was not involved in any illegal activities linked to the case. The statement emphasized that while he acknowledged meeting Epstein was a “serious error in judgment,” he denies improper conduct tied to the financier’s alleged wrongdoing.

Other Witnesses Scheduled

The House Oversight Committee’s inquiry has also drawn other notable figures. Former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton, testified in February, while Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and former Attorney General Pam Bondi are set to appear in upcoming weeks. These sessions continue to shape the narrative around Epstein’s network and its connections to prominent individuals.
