A Local Woman Fatally Injured in Dog Attack at Her Home
Essex Police confirmed that Jamie-Lea Biscoe, a 19-year-old woman, lost her life after being attacked by a dog at her residence. The incident occurred at Long Hide, a property in the village of Leaden Roding, close to Dunmow, at 22:45 BST on Friday. Emergency crews arrived swiftly, but the woman was declared dead at the scene despite their efforts.
The police have detained a 37-year-old man from Dunmow, suspecting him of overseeing a dog that was dangerously out of control. The animal has been confiscated, and specialists secured the area to ensure safety. A temporary barrier remains around the house as of Sunday.
“This event has deeply affected our community,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper. “We extend our condolences to the woman’s family and friends. Investigators are now examining the circumstances to determine the full story.”
Authorities are seeking additional details, including CCTV or dashcam footage, related to incident 1419 from April 10. Meanwhile, St Michael and All Angels church plans to hold a prayer session and light candles at 15:00 on Sunday afternoon.
