Wayne Rooney makes Tottenham relegation prediction ahead of Liverpool vs Spurs
Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has made a bold claim that Tottenham Hotspur will be relegated from the Premier League this season, advising Robbie Keane to reconsider joining the club as their manager.
Igor Tudor, who is currently interim manager of Spurs, recently suffered his fourth loss in charge after his team was defeated 5-2 by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. This setback has raised questions about his position, as Tottenham now faces a crucial Premier League fixture against Liverpool at Anfield this Sunday.
The club currently occupies a position just one point above the relegation zone, and Rooney’s assessment of their performance has grown more critical. ‘The players should reflect on their own performance, as they’ve been nothing short of disappointing,’ he stated on Stick to Football.
‘The performances, the attitude, the lack of desire, the lack of fight and there’s a lack of everything in them. Last week I didn’t but after seeing what’s happened in the last couple of games I think they will go down.’
Gary Neville, meanwhile, offered a contrasting perspective. ‘I don’t think they will go down. I think if you’re going to make another change that, for me, probably needs to be today or tomorrow because you don’t wait.’
‘My view is they will make a change and stay up just. That’s what I think will happen. That’s what I’m saying, if I’m Robbie Keane I wouldn’t leave a job to go into Tottenham now.’
Neville also emphasized the importance of appointing a manager with recent coaching experience. ‘If it was Sherwood or whoever who is out of a job I’d go in, but if I’m Robbie Keane there’s no way I’d leave a job to go into Tottenham.’
‘They’ll just see right through that. It’ll have to be someone who’s been coaching recently. Sean Dyche would take that job now, 100 per cent. To be in the game and have a chance to manage a top-six team, I know they’re not at the moment, I know it’s ridiculous saying that, but they are a massive club.’
Tudor’s attempt to impose a stricter, more disciplined approach has not yielded the desired results, with Neville noting that the squad is actively rejecting his leadership style.
