Two in Hospital After Bus Plunges Off A9 Embankment Near Aviemore
A bus collided with the roadside on the A9, approximately two hours north of Aviemore, resulting in two passengers being admitted to the hospital. The incident occurred near Granish Junction at around 9:40 on Sunday, prompting an extensive emergency operation involving multiple services. Firefighters, ambulance teams, and police responded swiftly to the scene, where the vehicle was found partially down a grassy slope. The road was temporarily closed for about two hours before reopening.
The bus, an electric model operated by the transport company Ember, was en route from Inverness to Edinburgh. Officials confirmed that the accident involved a single vehicle and no other vehicles were reported at the site. Details regarding the severity of the injuries sustained by the individuals were not disclosed initially. Emergency personnel were seen working around the overturned bus, which was described as a large turquoise-colored unit.
“One of our fleet vehicles was involved in a collision on 12 April,” said a spokesperson for Ember. “We extend our gratitude to the emergency services for their swift assistance and are fully cooperating with the police investigation.”
