Woman, 19, Killed in Dog Attack at Home
A 19-year-old woman lost her life in a tragic dog attack that occurred at a residence in Essex. Emergency responders were dispatched to Long Hide, a location in the village of Leaden Roding near Dunmow, at 10:45 PM BST on Friday. Upon arrival, they discovered the woman suffering from critical injuries.
Despite the emergency services’ tireless attempts to save her, the woman was declared dead at the scene by officers, according to Essex Police. A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was taken into custody on suspicion of allowing his dog to become dangerously out of control, leading to the victim’s fatal injuries. He is currently held in police detention.
Specialist officers confiscated the dog and confirmed the area was secure, the police force stated. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper remarked:
“I know this incident will be a shock to the local community. My thoughts, and those of the entire team at Essex Police, are with the loved ones of the woman who died yesterday. We will have officers in the area throughout today, so please come and speak to them if you have any information or concerns. Experienced detectives are leading the investigation to understand exactly what has happened.”
Essex Police is seeking contact from anyone with relevant information, CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or other video evidence related to the incident, which is logged under reference number 1419 on 10 April.
