Four killed in second Turkish school shooting in two days

Second School Shooting in Two Days Leaves Four Dead in Turkey

Kahramanmaras Governor Mukerrem Unluer reported that at least four individuals were killed and multiple others wounded during a shooting at Ayser Calik Secondary School. Local media cited the governor’s statement, noting the attack occurred in the southern region of the country. Details about the victims and the assailant remain unclear, with no official confirmation yet provided.

The shooting follows a similar incident at another high school in the same area just a day prior, where an ex-student opened fire before taking his own life. That attack left 16 people injured, according to reports. Unluer added that the current incident resulted in at least 20 injured, some of whom are in critical condition.

Authorities are investigating the motive behind the Wednesday attack. Turkish outlets reported that the shooter brought five firearms and seven ammunition magazines into the school, likely inherited from his father. The gunfire was described as echoing with startling intensity, causing chaos among students and staff.

“Panic broke out in front of the school as the sound of gunfire intensified,” said a journalist from Turkish broadcaster NTV. The scene captured crowds of people, some recording on their phones, while ambulances rushed away with the injured.
